Eligibility Criteria of University of Otago Scholarships

International students from all countries are eligible to apply for the University of Otago Scholarships if they qualify other requirements specified by the university.

The general eligibility criteria is that you must have completed your previous education with good to excellent academic results and have research potential. For instance, if you want to get a scholarship for masters, the university will rank you based on your undergraduate records and so on. This include different factors like your CGPA, research profile, work experience, motivation, research proposal, etc. Furthermore, you’ll need to show English language proficiency.

Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships for International Students

This is one of the competitive scholarships at undergraduate level at the University of Otago. It’s offered for international students who’ve not previously been admitted to the university and want to undertake full-time, full-year undergraduate studies.

Otago International Excellence Scholarships

This scholarship is for international students who’ll be commencing their postgraduate studies at the University of Otago studying online or on-campus.

This scholarship is specifically for those international students who’re enrolling in a research master’s program/thesis based master’s.

University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships

The University of Otago offers a good number of scholarships for international Ph.D. students that are mostly fully-funded and provide a handsome stipend and other benefits. If you’ve excellent academic records and research profile, you’re likely to be selected for the University of Otago Doctoral Scholarships. The doctoral scholarships are offered both for international as well as domestic students.

There are further types of scholarships within the doctoral category. They’re enlisted below:

University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship: This scholarship provides funding to support doctoral students studying at the University of Otago. It’s available for both international and domestic students. Also, you can apply for it whether you’re a Ph.D. candidate or a professional doctorate (DClinDent, DMA, DBA, EDd). University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship offers a full tuition waiver plus a stipend of NZ $28,600 per annum for up to 3 years. The university offers up to 200 positions annually for this scholarship. There’s no such deadline. You can apply anytime.

University of Otago Māori Doctoral Scholarship: This scholarship offers a full tuition fee waiver plus a stipend of $28,600 for the Māori thesis Ph.D. candidates.

University of Otago Pacific Island Doctoral Scholarship: This scholarship also offers a complete tuition fee waiver plus a stipend of $28,600 for Indigenous Pacific Island thesis Ph.D. candidates.

University of Otago City of Literature Doctoral Scholarship: This scholarship provides funding to Ph.D. students for doctoral research in the study of literature.

Bruggeman Postgraduate Scholarship in Classics: This scholarship financially support classics Ph.D. candidates.

China Scholarship Council Doctoral Scholarship: This one’s for Ph.D. candidates who’re supported by the China Scholarship Council.

Alliance Group Postgraduate Scholarship: Same $28,600 stipend plus a full tuition fee waiver for thesis Ph.D. candidates.

Blamforth Postgraduate Scholarship: Same $28,600 stipend plus a complete tuition fee waiver for 3 years of doctoral studies.

University of Otago Special Health Research Scholarship: Same $28,600 stipend and a full tuition fee waiver for thesis Ph.D. candidates.

Fanny Evans Postgraduate Scholarship for Women: This scholarship provides funding to support women doctoral students.

Dr Sulaiman Daud 125th Jubilee Postgraduate Scholarship: This scholarship provides funding to support doctoral students from Malaysia.

Gilbert M. Tothill Scholarship in Psychological Medicine: This scholarship provides $10,000 per year to support a doctoral student in conducting research in Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine or a related field.

James Park Scholarship in Geology: Scholarship funding to support Ph.D. students in doing research related to mineral resources in New Zealand.

Macandrew-Stout Postgraduate Scholarship in Economics: Scholarship funding to support doctoral students who’re studying economics.
